Adnan K. Sammour, M.D., M.Sc, D.A.B.M.A, R.M.S.K, C.O.D.N
Dr. Sammour has been driven to treat pain, due to an experience that touched his own life. During his first year of residency in Scranton, PA, Dr. Sammour had a skiing injury that caused bilateral shoulder and hip pain that lasted for several months. Three years later the pain turned from a constant nuisance to a severe pain in the right shoulder and arm due to herniated cervical disk. Dr. Sammour sought treatment through physical therapy, chiropractic therapy, and massage therapy. After treatment Dr. Sammour was left with a chronic achy feeling in his neck and shoulder for the next eleven years. At which point the chronic achy feeling in his neck transitioned to a stiffness and pain in his hands. Again, Dr. Sammour sought treatment from two different hand specialists, one of which recommended surgery.
At this point Dr. Sammour started seeking different treatments as well his ongoing journey of learning more about myofascial (muscle and fascia) pain and other causes of pain. Instead of surgery, Dr. Sammour tried to treat his pain with physical therapy, chiropractic therapy, osteopathic manipulation, acupuncture, Rolfing, structural integration, active isolated stretching, personal exercise training, prolotherapy, and even psychotherapy.
For Dr. Sammour, dry needling and peripheral motor nerve block with lidocaine produced the best results with a 90% improvement. Since then Dr. Sammour has completed over 90 seminars throughout the country learning more about different approaches to treat pain. He uses these techniques to give the same relief he experienced to his patients.
